Swim
Comments: The start to this swim was a bit crowded and there is really not much room to go and spread out so I tried to get out ahead and just swim steadily. I felt very good and enjoyed this swim. There were only a couple of moments of pushing and shoving but nothing too difficult. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 1
Comments: Good transition. I felt like I was doing what I needed to do and stayed focused. What would you do differently?: Nothing Bike
Comments: Still not doing the best that I should on the bike although I feel have made a big improvement. If the actual distance this year WAS longer than last year then I did better than last year...otherwise it's about the same. I felt like it was a good bike for me and I enjoyed it...I started feeling a bit ill around mile 14...I ate a gel and had some water and that did help me to feel better. I would really love to figure out the nutritional component so I am not struggling on the bike. It makes the bike just something to "get through".. What would you do differently?: eat the right things so I don't feel sick...practice, prctice, practice Transition 2
Comments: This was a good transition. I took the time to take a nice long dreink of gatorade and then I was off. What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: This was what hurt me last yer...I so wanted to bring this run in under 1 hour...I missed it by 19 seconds. Overall I felt really good on this run. I ran the whole way and only stopped at the water stops to get something to drink. My knee started to ache about mile four but it didn't seem too bad so I kept going. What would you do differently?: Run faster Post race
Warm down: It was great to hear the Bters shouting at the finish and to have my husband waiting to congratulate me. He has been the most awesome support and without him I would probalby still be in bed just wondering if I could do something like this.I enjoyed having lunch although it got pretty chilly and the thought of a long hot shower was very nice. It was a great last individual race for me this season. And great to do it with so many BT friends. What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing Event comments: I love this race and will be back again next year! Go check out the pictures over in my albums! Last updated: 2006-07-28 12:00 AM

I was looking forward to this race as this was the race last year that I really struggled with due to some bike shoe issues (which made the run nearly impossible). So I was looking forward to it. This year we stayed at home which was nice to get a good night sleep and wake up with all the conforts of home. Breakfast was an English Muffin with PBJ and a cranberry orange muffin. I stopped for a cup of coffee on the way to the race. My husband and I had a nice drive down and then I got set up in Transition. Saw lots of friendly faces and it was fun to just relax with the BTers and say hi. Hit the Porta-potty once and put on my wetsuit. I wanted to do better than my last year's time of 3 hours 14 minutes...
Not much of a warm up since I couldn't get in to swim. I took a couple of short strokes before the start.
