Swim
Comments: Decent swim considering I had a leak in the left side of my swim goggles. Distance includes run to transition of approx. 100yds. What would you do differently?: Non-leaking goggles might've saved me 30 seconds. Transition 1
Comments: Slow transition for me. I have sensitive feet and can't run on rough pavement too good. Bike
Comments: Was packing for race the night before and noticed my cleats were worn. Changed cleats and adjusted the placement a little from how I previously had them. Seemed to have a little more power. First ride with new Ceramic Speed bottom bracket... much smoother than my old steel SRAM bottom bracket. Felt like I could've pushed a little harder. What would you do differently?: Pushed harder coming back into town. Transition 2
Comments: Pretty typical transition. Run
Comments: Tried to maintain pace evenly through all 3 miles. First mile was 9:36 and miles 2 and 3 were both 10:17. I slowed up a little after 1.25 miles when I was running past transition and saw the only other person in my AG I knew just coming in off of the bike (he beat me by a few minutes last year). Overall I had a good run and it was nice to be able to cruise the last 1.75 miles knowing I had a big lead (ended up winning AG by nearly 15 minutes). Post race
Warm down: Walked around while I drank some water. Changed clothes, drank another bottle of Base Rocket Fuel. Waited around for awards. What limited your ability to perform faster: Weight as usual. But can't complain when at 240lbs. I beat competitors 50-60lbs. lighter in my AG. Event comments: This is by far my favorite race. Gene and the rest of the committee do an amazing job in organizing this event. The volunteers and community support are second to none. Last updated: 2017-07-05 12:00 AM
