Comments: A small turnout - I feel bad for the race organizers. But it was a different type of race. It was more like a cross race rather than a mtb race. There were only 2 women in the novice class. The other 2 women who regularly show up for this series didn't show for some reason. H. went out fast and I didn't think I ever would catch her. But I noticed I was catching her on the hills, so I pushed harder on the flats so that I could hold her until the hills and then pick up time. I passed her at the start of the 2nd lap. But near the end of the 2nd lap, I asked my son where she was and he told me she was just ahead of me. What? Maybe I didn't pass her. I was all full of doubts. Then at the finish, I saw her over at her car, and my heart sank. So I went over to congratulate her, and she told me I did 4 laps and she got lapped by the leader before she could start the 4th lap, so she was finished. So I did beat her! I am so pleased. Granted, the turnout was low and if L. and L. had shown I would not have gotten a first. But, hey this is my first win EVER! Post race
Warm down: hang with the famiily, hand hubby waterbottles during his race. What limited your ability to perform faster: same old, same old. Event comments: A good race - not very technical, but fun! Last updated: 2006-09-13 12:00 AM
