Run
Comments: When the gun went off at 6am, I tried to stay focus on my own pacing. Realised halfway that my GPS is not working. My gadgets always failed on me during races. This is not the first time! *sigh* Around 4 - 5km mark, someone asked me quite loudly, "So what is your next challenge?". I told him it's "Ironman". He said, "Good pace" and I said "Yeah". But I was too tired already to engage in any conservation. A while later, I realised that he was David Tay, one of the pacers from Tri Family for this marathon. They run in a group of 5. They were pacing for 4hours completion time. I tried to follow but it was too fast. My timint at 10km was 57:05 mins. It was faster than my last marathon 10km timing in KL. I felt good and tried to continue with the same pace but fatigue starts to set in. For the next 10km, I tried to maintained at a slower pace. My timing for the next 10km was 1:03:12 hrs. Total timing was 2:00:18. I know that my half marathon timing would not be that great. At 21km, it is 2:07:09hr. My timing in KL at half marathon (21.1km) was 2:08:26hr. The stretch along East Coast was bad. I was feeling very tired already. My knees starts to hurts but I endure through the pain. Even the shoulder blade and rotator cuff was in pain. In total, I picked up 3 Powergels along East Coast. When I saw 30km, I was relieved that it is ending soon but I know that I am not able to meet my target of less than 4hr 30mins. My timing was 3:14:58hrs. At Fort Road toilet, I decided to stop for a toilet break. At around the Singapore Dragon Boat Association in Kallang, someone told me that he like my bib reason. But i did not response to start a conversation, I just smile at him. About 2km further, someone tapped my back and asked me, "So what is your next challenge"? I said, "Hopefully, Ironman in Feb". He said that he will probably aimed for it in 2008. It is his first marathon. I continued running and felt that my knees does not hurt anymore. From then onwards, I saw a lot of people started to walk. It is around 2km only to the finishing line yet it feels like so far away. At 40km, My timing was already 4:30:11hrs. I only started to open up my strides on the last 500m. I crossed the finishing line at 4:43:11hrs. What would you do differently?: Do more 30km - 35km distance during training. Post race
Warm down: Did some stretching immediately after I stop running at the finishing line. What limited your ability to perform faster: Felt some pain on the knees from 25km to 35km. Due to the pain, I had to slow down my pace. It could be due to insufficient training for long distance from 25km onwards. Should have more training in that distance range in future to prepare for marathon to avoid pain. Event comments: Could have done better due to flat course and great weather but due to pain on the knees, I was not able to. In terms of nutricient, I think it was sufficient. Could have done better with sufficient training. The next marathon would be during the Ironman race in Langkawi. Gun Time: 4h 43m 14s Chip Time: 4h 43m 9s Last updated: 2006-12-04 12:00 AM

Steven and I were at the start point around 20 minutes before the race begins. We managed to get into the Less than 4 hours holding area as most of the other MR25 runners were gathering there.
