Comments: This swim went waaaaay better than my first one at Buffalo. The water was so much warmer and I didn't get that panicky feeling. It really helped to do the open water swim clinic a couple of weeks ago at the race site. I need to learn better navigation skills now that I am not the slowest swimmer in the pack. I think I would have finished better if I had been able to get around the slower people in front of me. What would you do differently?: I am pleased with this result. I have the endurance, now I need to start working on adding a little more speed. ![]() Transition 1
Comments: I didn't fall down, YAY! That was my goal for this transition. (Last race I fell getting on my bike.) Not having the wetsuit on made a big difference in my transition time. What would you do differently?: I need practice racking my bike. I kept bumping into the woman next to me and she did not seem pleased. ![]() Bike
Comments: I think I need a new bike. I went back and forth with one guy several times. On about the 4th time he passed me he said, "If you had a road bike instead of a mountain bike, you would have left me inyour dust for good." While this is encouraging as far as my effort, is discouraging as far as my results. Time to start saving my pennies. What would you do differently?: Get a road bike. ![]() Transition 2
Comments: If I can learn to rack my bike without being such a klutz, I will save even a little more time here. ![]() Run
Comments: I felt a lot more tired on the run than I did last time. However, it still seems to be my best event. What would you do differently?: I need to train on longer distances I think. Then I won't be so tired when I get to this part. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Walked around and drank water and Powerade. My husband and my daughters were there for the first time, so that was fun. I also hung around the finish to wait for my mom and my sister to finish. What limited your ability to perform faster: 1. Inability to navigate on the swim 2. Hybrid bike vs. road bike 3. Lazy training this last month Event comments: This is only my second race and I improved my time. I also felt more organized, less nervous, and better prepared mentally. I wasn't as prepared physically, due to injury and vacation in the last month, but I am psyched to up the training and get ready for Chisago Lakes in July. Last updated: 2007-01-14 12:00 AM

I got up early and had my bowl of granola and a banana. My mom did this race with me, so she picked me up at 5:00. We had a little trouble with her new bike rack, but got to the site eventually. I felt like I had plenty of time to get set up and walk around a little bit.
Nothing really.
