Pre-race routine:

We got to the site and set up our transition area at about 6:00 am. It was really COLD, so we all kept our sweats on for most of the pre-race time. Andy and I hooked up with....well, everyone and we all stayed in the cold for about an hour. When we finally got smart enough to realize we could go inside and sit around the pool, we left all our warm clothes and braved the cold until we got inside.
Event warmup:

Yeah, there was no warm-up....it was too cold!!!
Swim
  • 09m 27s
  • 328 yards
  • 02m 53s / 100 yards
What would you do differently?:

Nothing really, I just need to get in the pool more often.
Transition 1
  • 03m 18s
Comments:

I was pretty cold, so I put on my famous leg warmers. I got made fun of a lot (mostly from people who love me anyway), but for me it was worth it. It would have saved me about a minute or two if I hadn't put them on, but I totally feel it was worth it.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Bike
  • 50m 15s
  • 12.68 miles
  • 15.14 mile/hr
Comments:

I enjoyed the bike course. It was pretty hard at some points, but most of it I really enjoyed. Of course, I had on my leg warmers, and I was really glad I did!!! I really loved it when people would come up behind me and comment on how sexy the leg warmers were!!!

All in all I was pretty pleased, I PR'd on the bike course for a race.
What would you do differently?:

Get out on the bike more before!!!
Transition 2
  • 01m 47s
Comments:

Pretty easy transition, but my legs cramped up a little in the beginning.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing really.
Run
  • 33m 23s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 10m 44s  min/mile
Comments:

The only thing I have left to say here is WOO HOO!!!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing!!!!
Post race
Warm down:

My warm-down consisted of standing around with all the Bt'ers freezing and watching everyone getting their hardware. I was so proud of everyone!!!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The freakin' cold!!!

Event comments:

What a fun race!!! I am so happy with my performance. I PR'd by 8 minutes!!!

I was pretty nervous when I was standing in line. It was nice to have Steve so close because he calmed me down. Once I jumped in the pool I was great. I was slow, but I finished without stopping.
