Swim
Comments: Completely unexpected how much I struggled here. My chest felt compressed and I was feeling a tad claustrophobic. Perhaps my suit is too small. I almost called for lifeguard several times before 1st buoy. On top of that goggles started leaking, never leaked in pool, 1st OWS they leak! 2nd half of swim went much better and if they had 440 splits my 2nd 440 was well below 1st. Swim time also includes about 50 yard climb uphill to transition. What would you do differently?: Not have race day be my first OWS and westsuit swim. Practice more trapezoid swims :) Transition 1
Comments: Overall, although slow T1, I am satisfied. Took awhile to catch breath, once chest was free of suit it was great relief. Bike
Comments: Dropped my water bottle and had to go back for it. Rider came up beside me after and told me I should have left it, but I didn't want to be charged with abandonment, even though I know there were no marshalls out there. As a lifetime golfer, I am used to self governing rules. What would you do differently?: More T.I.T.S. Transition 2
Comments: Only 2nd race, transitions are a little slow. More practice. Run
Comments: Started out as road run, then became trail run. Many spots were single lane, lots of roots and some quick up and downs. Also had to forge a couple of creeks, muddy areas and climb over a tree blocking the course. I guess overall, it was 50/50 trail/road course. Trail definitely slowed me down, almost tripped a couple of times. Post race
Warm down: Looked for shade and tore apart my effort. They had slamming post race buffet breakfast, scrambled eggs, waffles, bagels, fruit What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of brick training /overweight engine. Event comments: This was the inuagural event organized but college kids and they did an awesome job! The RD actually raced and took 1st in his AG. If this years registrants had priority on next year's race, there would be very few spots available. I will definitely be back next year, but sign up early this one should fill up fast (only 200 spots). They even gave finisher's medals to everyone!! Just re-connecting with a Good friend from college was worth the day, everything else I'll improve. I have to keep reminding myself where I was only 7 mos ago and how I was treating myu body. Now I AM triathlete! Last updated: 2007-04-02 12:00 AM

Ate breakfast, drove to course and had 3rd of my race day required 3 throne stops.
Had some laughs with old college buddy who was racing, haven't seen him since college. Oh yeah, wondered just how cold is that water?
