![]() Run
Comments: Course was not especially barefoot friendly.. there was a lot of brick road which normally doesnt me except the length was so short that by the time I got used to it we would move to paved road and then the bricks would come back. Slowed me down a lot... that's where Eric and Shannon dropped me. I met up with Scott Petry, the other barefooter and helped him finish. This is only Scott's 2nd race and he was struggling with an ITB. I worked the crowd and tried to get Scott to talk knowing it would divert him from the pain in his ITB... It worked cuz he finished but we stopped 5-7 times for him to stretch. Cost me about 10 minutes. What would you do differently?: I didnt drink anything, preferring to do my camel thing. I did not feel dehydrated but it's a good habit to drink. Overall this was just a training run that I chose to have fun on by working the crowd and the other runners While barefooting To a policeman: "I'd like to report a theft" To a street guard: "Have you seen my shoes??" To another runner asking how long I have been running without shoes: "Since birth... I was born with barefeet.. And on and on it goes ![]() Post race
Warm down: Got in my car and went home What limited your ability to perform faster: Crappy surfaces, especially the brick roads and about 1/4 mile of really bad chip seal. Lawrence needs to spend some money on things other than the university.... LIKE THE ROADS!!! Event comments: the last mile was a loop around the Haskell campus with the final 1/4 mile a loop on the track of the football stadium. This was really nice with lots of people in the stands cheering us on. I got a nice chorus of "BAREFOOT GUY" on the track Last updated: 2007-04-14 12:00 AM

Took off my shoes, put some bag-balm on, thought awhile about Oki, put on my Hefty Trash bag (black so no one would think I am white trash), met Eric adn Shannon and barely made it to the start gate.
What's a warmup.... it was cold. In my events you ride or sleep... EVERYTHING else is done on the bike...
