Swim
Comments: Wide river, lots of space, easy to get into a pocket within 1 minute of start. Terrific course. Wave following me (men 20-25 or something) -- a few caught up, but plenty of room. Swam wide until bridge, then cut in close to buoy for turn. What would you do differently?: nothing Transition 1
Comments: ranked 53/101 in T1, took my time, but felt strong coming out of swim, plus put on socks. didn't use tripod stool. What would you do differently?: nothing Bike
Comments: felt great on the hills, comfortable on the downhills (kept around 30 mph), cornered safely, on second loop, didn't have the strength to push as fast, instead downshifted and kept cadence up, reserving some strength for the run. Transition 2
Comments: found rack easily, but struggled on how to rack bike again Run
Comments: good start, good first 3 miltes, started to get concerned at mile 3 that had 3.2 left. By mile 4, legs were tight, took water at each station, walking. Had 10 min/mi pace toward end. What would you do differently?: had a great bike, not sure if there was much I could do more on the run. Hard when I didn't do any longer runs last weekend before tapering. Post race
Warm down: stretched a little while waiting for food, went straight to massage line with loaded plate. massage was terrific, 30 full minutes on hamstrings, calves, hips -- plus unlocked my lower back. Event comments: Could have some children's activities at the finish. Tough for kids hanging out. for all women 217 / 595 Last updated: 2007-11-11 12:00 AM
