got to transition for setup later than I would I have liked. really need 60 minutes before race and not 45-30 minutes.

Comments:

Didn't warm up in the water, water quality was better than expected, head and feet got chilled, somewhat disorienting until halfway through race. Had to stop and do breaststroke after hitting someone's feet to find a way forward. Usually by then they had moved on.

Neck felt less constricted. Had a good second half, sighting on the far shore which ran parallel to the course.
What would you do differently?:

Need to learn how to keep going. I think I was more afraid of hitting other humans than hitting unseen creatures in the lake.

Long run into transition, slightly uphill. I was going quite slowly. I think even walking flashed in my mind.

cadence was everywhere from 9 to 85. slipped my chain 2/3 into race. lots of gear shifts to make the hills work. need to fix my lowest gear so it doesn't rub against my derailleur.
