Comments:

Ahhh....the swim. The water was SO HOT it actually felt weird. It was like 55 degrees air temp, so jumping in this bath tub was a shock to the system!! My goggles imeadeately started filling up. I dumped them at the end of lap 1. This pool is really deep at one end, and it always freaks me out a bit. I feel like I am sinking, or being pulled to the bottom. I litterally had to pass 9 different guys who were frog swimming. What the heck is the deal with all these men doing Tris who CANNOT SWIM? It really irritates me as I had to learn how to swim, why can't they? Luckily these lanes are super wide, but it really didn't help me when I had to squeese between two of them swimming side by side. I splashed as much as I could as I did. On the last 50 I swam as hard as I could. On this course I have missed 2nd and 3rd place by mere seconds, so I thought I should give it all I had. (This race I was beaten by almost a minute, and then the girl behind me was a minute behind me...so those seconds really didn't matter this time.)
Transition 1
  • 00m 31s
Comments:

Super fast T2 as I dropped by bike crap and ran to the pool. No need for a swim cap with my aero hair on, so I just donned the goggles and went.
Bike
  • 35m 32s
  • 12.22 miles
  • 20.63 mile/hr
Comments:

This series of races always has lots of firt timers. I am always amazed at how slow people go when they mount the bike. It's a RACE people!!! As SOON as I jump on I am powering through the parking lot trying to make my way all the people who are still trying to get their bearings on the bike. MOVE!! Eventhough this was a nice flat, easy course I felt like I wasn't as strong as I could have/should have been. Just didn't have my bike mojo on that day I guess. But I am still pretty happy with my bike. Passed lots of people, so that felt good.
Transition 2
  • 01m 10s
Comments:

I find transitions in Reverse races to be much faster. Was able to get through T1 very fast. (for me)
Run
  • 14m 40s
  • 2 miles
  • 07m 20s  min/mile
Comments:

The run was great. My HR was right at 174 on the run which is where I wanted it. Just below my AT of 179. I had some slightly less fit women pass me in the begining, which irritated me, but I just kept telling myself they were coming out too fast and would fade. Sure enough I passed both by the 1 mile mark. This is the fastest mile split time I have ever had, so I am super happy about it. Last time I did this course I had my fastest mile splits at just under 8 min. Thought for sure I would have a slower run than last year because I am trained up for longer distances now, so I totally shocked myself!!!
Post race
Warm down:

Jump in the hot shower there at the Y and put on dry clothes!! Lots of standing around and waiting while they got the results figured ou.

Course: This bike course was so much better than the one we usually do. The normal road was all tore up (good....it was crap anyway!) so we did a 4 mile square south of the Y instead of north of the Y. Was a nice flat course with the slightest headwind out of the NW.
