Swim
Comments: Had not swam much in the month before the race and my arms became tired near the end, causing me to go off course and breathe heavy, it was harder than it should have been due to my lack of conditioning. What would you do differently?: Have kept my swimming up after the Annapolis Tri, I would have had a much easier end of the swim. Transition 1
Comments: Felt good about this T1 - saw Jen, which was motivating and got a weird muscle cramp in my abdomen, but it went away - thank goodness. What would you do differently?: not much, this went well. Bike
Comments: The Bike is my weakest leg of the Triathlon, overall I was happy with my time. I need to drink more fluid on the bike, it really causes me problems on the run. What would you do differently?: go faster if I could! Transition 2
Comments: Felt good about the Transitions, seems to be the one thing I am pretty good at. Run
Comments: Mile 2 seemed extra long to me and it took me about a minute longer than then the other miles, because of that I ended up pushing myself absolutely as hard as I could on the last mile to turn out a finish under 28mins (9 min pace) and it worked out ok. Running is definitely my strongest of the three legs. What would you do differently?: Pushed harder on mile 2, the sun was really beating down and I was hot. I was really wanting some gatorade but they didn't have it on the course. I mentally broke down a bit during that second mile. Post race
Warm down: Hung out till very end. enjoyed the sandwiches, sodas, and water and talked to a bunch of crabs. Watched the medals be handed out then headed home to Annapolis with my friends. Was happy with my 6th in age group place since it is only my third triathlon. What limited your ability to perform faster: The Annapolis Tri was my A race and it took place Sept. 9th, after this I was not really in training mode any longer and it showed during the race. Event comments: Would give the race a 5 but I wish they used timing chips. This race is so much fun, small, local, great atmosphere and surroundings. I thoroughly enjoyed it and it was the perfect end to my first triathlon season. Last updated: 2007-12-28 12:00 AM
