Swim
Comments: My recent average training times for 250 yard is 4:50. 2 people passed me - a guy right behind by 175 yd and a girl at the last 25. Also going under the lane lines may contribute to the additional time. Thought I could do better, but pushing hard only gain me 10 - 15 sec but I'd get all out of breath. Not worth it. Proved right when I out-ran the girl who passed me at the end as she had to take a breath. Transition 1
Comments: By the time I get to my TA, my feet are already dry. Still don't like running on the pavement bare foot. Bike
Comments: Fcuked up at the beginning when racers were supposed to turn right. I followed a pack of non racers, and seeing the returning bikers on the other side I thought I was good, then figured where I was doesn't match the revised course map I looked at last night. Returned to the right place. Added 1 mile. Lots of traffic. There are at least 20 cops on the route. A few times had to slow way down to ride through the traffic while cars stopped to let us pass. Just like commuter riding. Didn't go areo due to pumpy roads and traffic. Also was too concern about messing up the route again that I asked everyone (volunteers/cops) if I were at the right place. Didn't drink enough. What would you do differently?: Drink more Transition 2
Comments: Dismounted and pushed the bike uphill back to TA. As soon as my right food touches the ground, I had a side stitch. Before running out of TA I gulped down 1/2 a bottle of gatorade. Run
Comments: my right ab from the bottom of the rib-cage felt like a rock the whole 3 miles. I wasn't even running, just shuffling my feet. At about 0.5 mile there was this steep uphill into some residential area. Walked it. Felt a bit looser, ran, and the ab become solid again. Concentrated on the breathing. Grab water at every station - which was 2. Distracted myself by saying hi and thanking the volunteers and cops. What would you do differently?: Drink more on the bike Post race
Warm down: Hung out with Trifury. Looked for isis. Looked for food. Looked for csimpkins. Looked for mlaugustine (didn't find him after the race). Met a new BTer Slowburns. What limited your ability to perform faster: not in the mood to race Event comments: 3rd time doing this race. 2006= 1:29:02 2007= 1:19:33 2008= 1:22:50 Edited to add: glad it's not an ocean swim (see photo) Last updated: 2008-01-07 12:00 AM

Ate peanut butter toast, took Alavert for allergy, drank some coffee while driving. 45 min drive to race site. Picked up race packet, set up TA, hung out with Trifury people. Talked with csimpkins. Found mlaugustine by the pool - he was doing a relay.
Didn't warm up
