Total Time = 1h 57m 15s
Overall Rank = 207/217
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 40/42
Pre-race routine:

Got there right at packet pick-up, 5:00 AM. Milled about with my husband until Transition opened.
Event warmup:

Walked around a little bit and then stretched.
Swim
  • 27m
  • 440 yards
  • 06m 08s / 100 yards
Comments:

Though I had been telling myself not to for months, I panicked pretty quickly into it. There was a very sweet lady, #22, who reassured me everything was OK and that I could swim with her since she was a slow swimmer. She led us BOPers and would shout out to us if we were going too far out or too far in. God bless that woman and her heart.

Besides being close by people occasionally and hearing #22's guiding voice, I could not believe how lonely I felt out there. It seemed so quiet...so vast.
What would you do differently?:

Wear my contacts, use anti-fog solution for my goggles and practice, practice, practice.
Transition 1
  • 03m 30s
Comments:

This went very smoothly, but it felt like I went faster than my time reflects.
What would you do differently?:

Wear a tri suit.
Bike
  • 1h 00m 4s
  • 12 miles
  • 11.99 mile/hr
Comments:

I was so excited to start this segment. The course was similar to the terrain on which I'd been training so I was prepared in that regard. Though, of course, everyone wants to go faster, given how little I trained and that this was my first tri, I was very pleased with my performance.
What would you do differently?:

I need more techie bike equipment.
Transition 2
  • 01m 45s
Comments:

Went fast, I thought.
What would you do differently?:

Wear a tri suit.
Run
  • 24m 56s
  • 2 miles
  • 12m 28s  min/mile
Comments:

Who knew a few months ago this would be my favorite of the three. I enjoyed the run (minus the mud puddles) and the 2 miles didn't seem long at all.
What would you do differently?:

Work on decreasing my minutes per mile.
Post race
Warm down:

None.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not training enough.

Event comments:

Loved it, loved it, loved it, loved it!!!! Though I knew I'd be a BOPer, I'm so glad I did this. I can now really train for another one in September.
