Swim
Comments: Smashed my toe prior to the start (see photos). The altitude got to me after a few minutes. I stopped, caught my breath, and then found my rhythm. The only trouble is, I wnet way off-course. It took me awhile to correct, but then I got it going. Good finish What would you do differently?: Be Careful!!! And navigate/sight much better. Transition 1
Comments: Long transition area, but I found my bike. Got my suit off better than I did at Tempe (gee, I practiced). A little trouble jumping on my bike due to traffic coming out of transition. In fact, some guy trying to get into his shoes past the mount line was all over the place and nearly took 2 of us out. What would you do differently?: Run into transition instead of walk. Get on my bike a little better Bike
Comments: Good bike for me. Practicing some hills over the last month or so has really helped. My biggest issue is that my magnet somehow got turned around so that my bike computer was nothing more than a stopwatch. What would you do differently?: Not much - -go faster? Transition 2
Comments: Pretty good T2 - -again, this transition area is long and narrow. Run
Comments: Started off at a good pace and just wanted to hold it until the turn around. Increased speed down the hill and had enough to amp it up a little more for the last 1/2 mile or so. My right achilles was hurting on the way up, but seemed to disappear on the way down. What would you do differently?: Maybe start my finish kick a little sooner? I had a few rabbits that I wanted to keep pace with (and I did) -- but maybe I could've passed them. Who knows? I was pretty wiped after crossing the finish. Post race
Warm down: Met my family and watched more peeps finish. What limited your ability to perform faster: The Altitude! Event comments: The only thing negative I can say is that the transition area was too small for the number of racers. The bike racks were packed and bowing in the middle due to the weight. This made many bikes lay at an angle and clooged the transition area. More room please!!! Other than that - - it was a great race. Cool temps, beautiful scenery on the course, and hills that were frickin' hard! I'd do this one again! Last updated: 2008-02-20 12:00 AM
