Pre-race routine:

We spent the night in Carrollton so we didn't have to drive so far that morning. So... woke up and had coffee, bagel, and a cliff bar.
Event warmup:

Tried not to panic! We got lost on the way to the race.. worst case scenario!!! Damn google maps had us going all dirt roads. Not good, so I was rushed on time when I got there.
Swim
  • 14m 12s
  • 656 yards
  • 02m 10s / 100 yards
Comments:

Really slow swim for me! I need more practice with sighting. I was pretty dissappointed with the swim, but that's okay :).
What would you do differently?:

Practice Practice Practice. More open water swims before the next one.
Transition 1
  • 02m 38s
Comments:

I tried to go slow and take my time since I had never really done one before. Brian was waiting outside my transition area and flagged me as I came up. He kept making me laugh so that helped with my nerves.
What would you do differently?:

More practice (of course). Focus more and play less :)
Bike
  • 42m 40s
  • 11.2 miles
  • 15.75 mile/hr
Comments:

I'm still really slow on the bike, but I had a good time.
What would you do differently?:

I need more time on the bike and work on increasing my speed. I think I could have pushed it a little more.
Transition 2
  • 01m 40s
Comments:

I was really slow here. I need more practice with this area. I didn't ride with my feet on top of my shoes, so I want to master that technique.
What would you do differently?:

Practice.
Run
  • 30m 31s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 09m 50s  min/mile
Comments:

Slower run for me. I think I could have gone a little faster than I did. I also should have pushed harder at the end of the run.
What would you do differently?:

Do more work on hills. Always push harder through the line.
Post race
Warm down:

LOTS of water! Loaded the car with Brian and watched others finish.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

This was my first race so, I expected this to be a learing experience. I just hope to continue to get better/faster!

Event comments:

This is a great race for beginners. Everyone was very supportive and helpful. I would definitly recommend this race.
