Swim
Comments: I was worried about this just being a 700m swim as that is usually the point in my training swims where I get really comfy in the water I am feeling good, but today went fantastic. I am not a speedy swimmer by any means, but must say I felt pretty quick and comfortable in the water today. I didn't bother lap counting as apparently the lap counter word is law so I was surprised when she told me 2 laps to go because it seemed to fly by. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 1
Comments: I am so scattered in transition. I can see where actually being organized and having a plan would be a very good thing. lol I'll try to work on that. I think I need to set up transitions and practice at home. Last minute decision to forgo a jacket was a good idea because it got hot out. Oh except for the sunburn I have. What would you do differently?: Loosen the lace clip and open the velcro of my bike shoes beforehand. Took about 40 seconds wresting with them. Bike
Comments: I don't know my time yet, but I sort of feel like for part of the race I forgot I was racing and was more in sightseeing mode. It was such a gorgeous day and I am so nosy. There were a couple really nice houses along the route and I found myself checking out all the details. lol Holy crap there are some FAST cyclist out there. What would you do differently?: Probably could have pushed this a bit harder and still had something for the run. Transition 2
Comments: My best change over yet. Yay for me !!!!! No changing clothes this time. What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: I seriously have to get out and do some bike/run bricks. Breathing was again difficult. I do fine when I JUST go running, but coming off the bike I struggle. Something to do with heart rate??? Hopefully something practice will help. Post race
Warm down: Nothing of note. Find van, drive home, work out in the yard gardening and helping Dh put in wood ties along our back deck. What limited your ability to perform faster: I don't think gardening all day Friday was a good plan to optimize performance because I woke up with stiff calves/quads from squating for hours pulling weeds. Event comments: Well organized with a wealth of volunteers. My daughter loved the sling/backpack souvenir bag so the race was a big hit with her right from the start. Try to get out of the house and to the race in time to chill a few minutes before race time. Run back and forth from the rec centre to transition about 4 times because I had either forgotten something there ( ie. race chip !!!) or had something with me at the pool that needed to be with my stuff in transition.
Try to eleviate the ankle pain from waiting around in bare feet on a hard floor for a very long, long time waiting for my time group. Dashing to the washroom at the last minute.
