Swim
Comments: This was a good swim for me. I started out hitting my rhythm right away. I hit the first turn and passed the guy in front of me. My second turn wasn't great but the rest of the swim went well. I passed 6 more people without any problem and felt great coming out of the water. I was so relaxed because I had NO expectations for this race! What would you do differently?: nothing. Transition 1
Comments: Not sure but I think T1 is included in the Bike time... Bike
Comments: I had a lot of fun on the bike! Maybe too much fun! That pace is a bit slow for me but I had a really good time socializing and hootin' and hollarin' while I rolled along. What would you do differently?: Um...focus? Really, nothing. This was a fun race for me. Transition 2
Comments: I think T2 is included in the run time...I sure hope so! Run
Comments: I sure hope this includes T2 'cause even coming off of an injury and not running for 3 weeks I should be faster than THAT! I was really concerned in the first mile about my calf. Mile 1 was 8:02 and I was feeling great. I decided at that point that I'd push a little more and got my HR up to the 170's without any problems. The last mile I turned it up and stayed right at 181 HR. What would you do differently?: Push more sooner...but this was just a fun race! Post race
Warm down: I finished and grabbed a Gatorade. I saw my friend Mitch come off the bike (Mitch talked me into my first race in '05) and decided to greet him in transition. I ran with him for the first 2 miles and headed back to the race site. I was feeling GREAT! What limited your ability to perform faster: Too much fun!? Event comments: . Got up at 5am. 2 cups of coffee and powerbar. Headed out at 5:30
I messed around and Kimberley W. asked me 15 minutes before the race if I was going to do any warm up! Oops! I'd better finish setting up transition! I jumped in for a 100 meter swim before the start.
