Swim
Comments: There was not as much outright swimming as I would have hoped, but I did alright. Bilateral breathing really helped, and sighting was not as difficult as I had thought. What would you do differently?: Include skipping and burpees into my strength training for these shallow water courses. The up and down of dolphin diving was taxing. Transition 1
Comments: T1 and T2 times are part of the bike leg. At my first tri I was slow and did not know what to do; I came to a complete stop at the mount/dismount line. NOT this time. I hit the line running, hopped on and got going. I have traditional toe clips but I got into them easily What would you do differently?: Not much. I was pretty happy with this as a whole. There is little more I can do until I am working with clipless pedals. Sitting down helped when getting the wetsuit off the feet and putting on the socks and shoes. (yankz ROCK!) Bike
Comments: I was not worried about getting passed, but I did pick up my pace a little as a result of the faster riders. There was I guy in baggy shorts riding a mountain bike that came out of T1 behind me. We traded places a few times up to the turn around. I hit a REALLY hard headwind on the way back in. I figure he was a good Km ahead of me as we wne t into T2. I might need a good saddle. My "butt", but not really my butt, hurt by the end. What would you do differently?: Nothing much (with this bike). I know from this that I need more volume in my bike training, and need to do more than just riding for distance and constant cadence (research some drills). Transition 2
Comments: I smoked T2. It kind of helps that I already had my runnign shoes on. I have been making a point of ending all my rides with flying dismounts followed by runs. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Hell, I PASSED people in T2!!!!!! Run
Comments: I wanted to push myself harder, at the end, but I think the wind on the bike took that out of me. I would have liked to have finished under 30 minutes, but the official goal was to do it under 31 minutes. What would you do differently?: other than training more, I really don't know. Post race
Warm down: Walking, water, banana, massage. What limited your ability to perform faster: at this point, conditioning was the main limitation. I think I need to to train a lot more on the bike, and do more speed work in running (as I continue to increase my mileage) Event comments: This was the first year a tri was done at this event. It is usually just a duathlon. That being said, I liked it. The distance between getting out of the water and the bikes was a bit long, but I liked the location. Last updated: 2008-05-11 12:00 AM

Light breakfast and a green tea to settle the stomach. Once I got there I put my bike in the transition area (I like a spot on the inside edge). Went to register and then came to set up my area.
Light jog to get the blood flowing and strething the upper body.
