Swim
Comments: I have no complaints...this was my fastest swim time to date...and I know Steve, the race director, spent a lot of time race am to make sure the course was not short. I am pretty sure I swam a lot better because of the wetsuit. What would you do differently?: Nothing...oh wait...I should have used more bodyglide...I had issues removing my wetsuit at the wrists and ankles, even with the strippers help. See the picture below...note the problems with the wetsuit. Transition 1
Comments: I tied for fastest T1 in my AG. What would you do differently?: I needed more bodyglide...now I know. This was my first race using my wetsuit. Bike
Comments: I LOVED this bike course..it is the typical East Texas Course, I think...rolling hills. My legs were VERY tired, but it was FUN! What would you do differently?: If this were an A race, I would have tapered better, but that would be it. It was my first race to use my racing helmet, and I didn't have any issues. Transition 2
Comments: Had the best T2 in my AG. Oh, and I did my "flying dismount"...not a real flying dismount, but the one where you swing your leg over, dismount, and continue running (I had my shoes on)..my bike never stopped moving! First time I tried it, and I didn't fall!!! What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: I felt really good running...which suprised me. I think I got caught up seeing everyone I knew, and just had fun with it. Post race
Warm down: I stretched out...and walked around. I was in charge of the door prizes at this race, so I had to take of that..and then I enjoyed some of the YUMMY food. What limited your ability to perform faster: No taper. But hey - Longhorn was 2 weeks away... Event comments: I was the sixth overall female...four of the six in front of me I knew. I won my AG...which suprised me - I thought for sure my friend that got 2nd in my AG would have gotten it. This was a great race. Of course, I am very biased since it was through my tri club. There were about 140 racers, so it was a small race, but such a fun one! I remembered to get my chip...no bike wrecks..no issues on the swim, and I did ALMOST fall once on the run, but I never actually fell...wow...this was a great race for me!!! See the pics below...William (triritter) got 2nd OA! He did great as well. Like I said...fun race...I will of course do this one again next year... Last updated: 2008-05-19 12:00 AM

I got to the race site and set up transition. The only reason I was really doing this race was because it was one sponsored by my local triathlon club. Because of the hurricane, the race got pushed one week, and somewhat interfered with my half IM training. I decided I could not let this race interfere with my "A" race...Longhorn..so I didn't do a proper taper, and told myself to just keep this race fun. My legs were indeed VERY, VERY tired when it was race morning, but I was excited to see lots of friends at the race site.
The race was wetsuit legal. I had not worn my wetsuit in months...so I put it on, was glad it still actually fit, and took a quick swim.
