Pre-race routine:

Event warmup:

Easy jogging and stretching.
Run
  • 18m 22s
  • 2.5 miles
  • 07m 21s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt good starting out. I ended up going faster than I expected and was still strong on the bike. I'll take that!
Transition 1
  • 01m 14s
Comments:

Good transition, I got a pretty good spot in transition and remembered where my bike was.
What would you do differently?:

Pay a little more attention and not have my bike in the hardest gear to start out.

Comments:

I felt really good till about mile 12 when I looked over my shoulder to pass someone and was overtaken by about 8 women that I passed on the way out. I probably put a bit of time into them but the illegal drafting they were doing sure helped them out coming back into the headwind. You know, it just makes me angry when I was out there, along with many others, who were taking the wind alone and riding fair just to be passed by DRAFTERS!!!! As soon as the mob passed me, the motorcycle came by going the other way and just waved to them to break it up....didn't help much though. I was able to get by them right before the transition but all that time I thought I had gained on faster runners was taken back. I know it's not worth getting worked up over but these women knew what they were doing and in my book it was cheating!
Transition 2
  • 00m 52s
Run
  • 20m 19s
  • 2.5 miles
  • 08m 08s  min/mile
Comments:

My legs were feeling it from the bike. I could swear that I was doing 10 minute miles but the goal of this run was one foot in front of the other.
What would you do differently?:

Take water at the aid station.
Post race
Warm down:

Water, walking and stretching. Chatting with the BT'ers and cheering on Dave, Dime and Dills at the awards! WAY TO GO!
