Swim
Comments: Swim was better than I expected. My pace was equal to the best pace I had in the pool prior to race. Considering I just started learning to swim freestyle and competitively about 8-9 weeks ago, I can't complain. I do need much improvement in sighting and navigation! What would you do differently?: Push a little harder and practice navigation prior to race Transition 1
Comments: Was pretty exhausted running up the beach and trying to get suit off. Put socks on upside down and had to pull off and re-do... Stared at stuff on towel feeling like I was forgetting something, haven't practiced or tried to clip shoes on bike and start on top of shoes... Was slow in T1! Area for improvement. What would you do differently?: Plan better for T1, go though it in my mind, practice starting with shoes clipped in, either learn to go sockless or practice getting them on more efficiently! Bike
Comments: Bike felt good overall, chain fell off from ring again! Downshifting uphill... Lost 30-60 seconds I think. Probably closer to 30. Hill climbing skills still suck. I need to focus on this in training and possibly check position on bike to see if it's affecting my power. I was smoking em down the hills though... Sweet! What would you do differently?: Find out why chain falls off and fix. Train better for hill climbing. I can't complain on this one, my performance was as good as I could expect based on the training I had done. Transition 2
Comments: T2 was fine, seemed to go well, my bike was in the farthest opposite corner of the transition area from where the bike mount was. I had the farthest run possible in and out. Bike racks were set up by wave. What would you do differently?: Practice and plan transitions better. Run
Comments: I am happy with my pace, better than my last 5k! 107 overall rank indicates this is an area I shold improve. What would you do differently?: nothing Post race
Warm down: Walk past (way past) the lady chasing me down to take off my chip... Find my family and grab a water bottle. What limited your ability to perform faster: Planning(generally related to transition times), not enough practice sighting and navigation, hill-climbing on bike was poor, general fitness for better run time. Event comments: Excellent first annual Rochester event. Weather was perfect. Cool and overcast broke way to sunny and eventually quite warm. Catered food from the Canadian Honker was great. Roughly 550 participants, sold out event, I enjoyed it very much. Was quite happy with my performance in my first Tri, all my times were about the best I could hope for judging on my best training paces... Last updated: 2008-06-04 12:00 AM

Carry stuff into transition area, arrange, re-arrange, wonder what I am forgetting, walk out, walk back in, realize I should have got there sooner, go back to car and grab pre-race drink, wait in line for bathroom, wonder if I ate enough, wonder why I am hungry, wonder where I left my keys and my money clip. Grab wetsuit and head to water.
Stretch and pretend I am not nervous.
