Event warmup:

jogged around for a little bit then i stretched for a bit. jumped in the water about ten minutes early and swam for a little bit.
  • 07m 3s
  • 500 yards
  • 01m 25s / 100 yards

good swim water was nice and smooth was crowded even with the wave start but overall i was very happy with the swim. i was kicked a couple of times but this being my first tri i have been told be plenty of people that this is bound to happen.
What would you do differently?:

start more to the front of the pack had to pass people and it was not easy so i swam quite a ways out of the way to get around
Transition 1
  • 02m 19s

There were several people who were not intentionally blocking the transition exit which made it difficult to have to weave around them. but otherwise it was a fairly good transition. i also was not use to having the timing chip on my ankle which made it a little more difficult to take of my wet suit.
What would you do differently?:

have a little towel to wipe my feet off with

  • 19.23 mile/hr

chain fell off about 150 yds. from t2 AHHH! a little frustrating but a very quick fix then back on the bike. Also i must have bumped the magnet on my wheel on the way to Emmett which meant no computer during the race. Which is ok i guess i just wanted to know what my speed was.
What would you do differently?:

make sure my bike computer is working before the race.
Transition 2
  • 00m 31s

  • 25m 31s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 14s  min/mile

run was good a lot slower than i expected but this being my first race i was very pleased with my overall results
What would you do differently?:

drink more before the run. train more for the run.

Course: The Course was really nice i thought it starts out leaving Black canyon park and continuing on Hwy 52 which is a lot of downhill. i really enjoyed this ride and i felt great especially when i was passing the wave that started before me the course continues with a few smaller hills and then levels out for a couple miles. but right before the end is the biggest hill which you go downd and brings you to the finish line.

Course: the run course was good it was a flat for the most part. i was pretty tired during the run and i definitely realized that this is what i had slacked on during racing. i struggled with this part of the race. there were aid stations every mile with tons of volunteers which were very nice. there was even a old man in his front yard that was spraying runners of with his hose!
