Swim
Comments: This was my first outdoor tri, and I was quite amazed at the mess starting the race. There were body's everywhere, and I even hit someone in the head. What would you do differently?: Get closer to the front of the start, and really hit the gas to the first bouy, then concentrate on stroking and breathing. Transition 1
Comments: I took way to long in the T1. I was happy with my swim performance and was trying to catch my breath by walking to T1. I also took to long in getting my feet dried, and getting my biking pants on. What would you do differently?: Buy tri bottoms that I could swim, run and bike in. Bike
Comments: I took the bike easy, not wanting to burn out for the run. My last two indoor events, I burned out on the run, and I wanted a nice easy pace for the bike. Got passed by at least 35 people. What would you do differently?: Push harder on the bike, I took it a little too easy Transition 2
Comments: Walked from the yellow line to the transition area. Was focused on the run, and getting into a good stride. What would you do differently?: Move a little faster. At least five people passed me in the T area. Run
Comments: Since I have never completed a 5K before, and the last 5K I ran, I walked at least 200 yards, I went out slowly, and did not pick up the pace until the 2 mile mark, when I know I would make it. I started a good stride at the 2.5 mile announcement, and was happy that I would make it. What would you do differently?: My time was 31.32 including the transition, and my previous best with walking was 29.25, so I was not happy. but did not have to walk. I will work the run harder for next year. I have only been running for six months. Post race
Warm down: Slammed a cold water, a banana, and 1/2 a bagel What limited your ability to perform faster: I was very cautious in this my first race. I will train a little harder, and push a little faster on the next one, now that I know that I can make it. Event comments: I went through plenty of water on my head during the run, and was very happy with this event. Last updated: 2008-07-13 12:00 AM
