Swim
Comments: My 14 year old daughter did the swim with only a few practice swims to prepare. She did great but several people swam over her. Transition 1
Bike
Comments: I pushed a little too hard but held strong to the end. My Heart Rate averaged 170 and maxed at 176. I was breaking into my 100% max heart rate. I'm 6'3" 45 years old and I have way too much muscle from weight lifting. I cut down to 245 pounds from 260. I'm looking to get down to 220-225 by summer. Triathlons just seem healthier compared to weight lifting. I think the bike course is a little short as my Garmin 705 said I averaged 22.56 MPH not 23.04. I was very happy just to compete. 14 months ago a drunk driver full size pickup truck on the wrong side of the road struck me (Felony hit and Run) . I now have 5 titanium plates and $150K worth of medical bills. Lucky I'm even alive and I only had 3-4 months where I could ride and run after the injury. So yea it's awesome knowing I'm healthier now then before the accident. What would you do differently?: Try not to get air on the speed bump :) Transition 2
Run
Comments: My 17 year old son did the run. He only had about 3-4 three mile runs to preparing between school and his work. This was his first triathlon. He was sick with the flu during the race. I think he will be running in the 18-20 minute range next year. Post race

The Tinsel Triathlon was awesome. We did a family relay. My 14 year old daughter, my 17 year old Son and my 45 year old, 245 pound body finished with a good beginner time. This was our first Tri. First place in the relay in 2006 was 1:04:10, 2007 3rd place was 1:03:26. I think our 1:01:57 today got us 6th place but the results aren't posted yet. I was thinking we had a good chance at a trophy but the team relay turned out to be very competitive this year with 26 Relay teams instead of the usual 10-15 teams.
