Swim
What would you do differently?: Do an open water swim before the event. It would help with sighting and staying more in a straight line Transition 1
Comments: Run up sandy beach with no foot baths by the time I reached the bike entrance. I had to spend more time cleaning up my feet for the fear of issues on the bike and run Bike
Comments: I expected to average slightly above 18mph so I was pretty happy. I was surprised how my legs felt at mile 45 and had a some concerns about the upcoming run. What would you do differently?: Train harder on my tempo rides. Transition 2
Comments: Since I do not practice riding with my feet on my shoes and jumping off my moving bike, this was a pretty typical transition What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: I had a feeling while on the bike that my run was going to be challenging. My legs felt more tired at mile 45 than I expected. May goal was 10 minutes miles and I missed that. I was hoping that my legs would loosen up after the first few miles, but it never happened. I just made sure that I had a comfortable pace to each aid station. Then, I would walk through each aid station. I absolutely loved the Oreo cookies at the one aid station!!! What would you do differently?: Once again, better tempo and interval runs in training. Post race
Warm down: Stretching and walking back to the hotel. Event comments: I could not ask for more from a race. The only downside had nothing to do with the organizers and volunteers. I was unfamiliar with the race and did not know I would need someone to accompany me to the swim start. When I checked the swim start lost and found, I got my flip flops, but someone must have liked my warm-up pants. Last updated: 2008-11-30 12:00 AM
