Comments: Wore the Brooks today instead of the Zoots. Wanted to hang back a bit the first mile. One of my teammates has been about 6 seconds faster than me lately and I wanted to give him a run. I have been hanging right on his shoulder, but thought I'd lay off a little today. I was looking for about 6:45 - 7:00 first mile and try to get stronger. My wife was using my Garmin so I wasn't sure about pace. Came to the first mile split at 6:26. Oops, more of the same. Cookie cutter race for me after that. Hit the turn around just a few seconds over 10 minutes. I guess this means my second mile might be getting faster, but also that I must have faded more. Had what I thought was a good finish. Had just a couple of kickers pass me the last .25 mile. What would you do differently?: Start a little slower. Wear Garmin. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Cheered in team mates. We had 18 racers today. What limited your ability to perform faster: Racing every weekend. I've only been running the track workouts on Monday nights and then racing on the weekend. Swimming and Biking the rest of the week then taper down Thursday and Friday for races. Event comments: My hometown 5k. Love the pancake and sausage breakfast after race. Last updated: 2008-12-16 12:00 AM

Up, eat, drive to race. Becca and Monica were racing too, so we all got signed up and ready.
About 10 minutes of jogging, then 5 minutes with strides.
