Swim
Comments: Overall Including Elites, Clydes, Relays, etc - 317/440 Not a great swim, but I don't swim alot. One of the more congested swim starts that I've been in. I don't know if it was me or just everyone, but I must have bumped into 1/2 of my age group in the first 200 yards. Thought I navigated well. There was a pretty good chop the second 1/2 of the swim. **I swam a faster pace at IMKY and Cutting Edge 1/2 IM. Almost got kicked by breast stroker. A hard kick missed my face by about 1/2 an inch. That would have ended badly. This included about 20-30 seconds of running up boat ramp and up a hill to transition. What would you do differently?: Swim more, swim more, swim more..... Transition 1
Comments: No hangups, large transition area. What would you do differently?: Maybe just rush a little more. Bike
Comments: Overall Including Elites, Clydes, Relays, etc - 58/440 I didn't TT this course. I tried to save a little something for the run. Eased into good pace the first 4 or 5 miles, then pushed most of the rest, but had a couple of sections where there were a line of riders in front of me, not close enough to be drafting, but when I passed one I would have to pass all. I tried to hang back and pick my spots for this which gave me a couple of small breaks. I used the small ring to get up some of these climbs. Tried to keep an eye on my cadence and keep it above 85. Had water and 1 bottle of Gatorade(225 calories) plus 1 gel at mile 20. What would you do differently?: Maybe push just a little harder, but course was hillier than I thought it would be. Transition 2
Comments: Again no hangups, just need to hurry a little more. Took 1 endurolyte. What would you do differently?: Practice. Run
Comments: Overall Including Elites, Clydes, Relays, etc - 204/440 Felt good on this run. Held back a little towards the start. Pushed the finish. Saw wyldchyld and new I'd have to pick it up. Took water at aid stations and special 1/2 of special mix at miles 2 and 3.5. Negative split this run as planned. What would you do differently?: Run more, sooner. Had a small lapse in my run training, but am back on track now. Post race
Warm down: Waited for teamates and stretched. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of swim training. Event comments: I'd give this race a 4.5. Tri-Sharks and Colleen always put on a top notch race and today was not exception. Last updated: 2008-12-16 12:00 AM

Up early and ate my rediscovered traditional blueberry pancakes for race day breakfast. Throughout the morning I also ate a banana, clif bar, and 1 G2 gatorade.
Set everything up and nothing more...
