Run
Comments: I ran comfortably until around mile 16. After that, I completely fell apart. My feet were in serious pain, which is unusual for me. After mile 16, I decided to start a run/walk rotation. Run half a mile, walk half a mile, run half a mile, walk half a mile, etc. I did that for the rest of the course. It was all I could do. Around mile 21, I stopped and actually sat down for a few minutes. I just had to get the weight off my feet. The last few miles really dragged on, but I eventually made it. It's definitely my slowest marathon time, but it was also my most enjoyable, despite the pain in my feet. What would you do differently?: I definitely need to train better for this distance. My marathon PR is 5:04, which isn't very good at all. I have plenty of time to find another marathon, and this time I really need to train properly! Post race
Warm down: Fell down on my azz in the family reunion area and stayed there for a while. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of proper training, not enough mileage. Event comments: Very fun and well-organized event. I'd recommend it to anyone and everyone. The course is entertaining, flat (it only has a couple of hills that aren't even worth mentioning), and scenic. I hope I can return someday! Last updated: 2008-12-27 12:00 AM

I made a huge mistake in assuming that there would be food available at the staging area. I had to be on the monorail no later than 4AM, which made for a very early wake-up (got up at 2AM, which is actually midnight in Phoenix!). I made it on time, but only to discover that water was the only thing available. Food was available, but only if I paid for it. Since I was staying at a Disney resort within monorail distance, I didn't bring any cash. D'oh! I had to run the race on an empty belly.
At the last minute, I made an executive decision. I decided to go for fun rather than a PR. I knew my training wasn't good enough to do well in this race, so I decided to take my time, take lots of pictures, and just have as much fun as possible.
