Run
Comments: I felt really good today. My first mile was a little fast, but it was hard to keep it in at the start, and a ton of people were passing me so I felt like I was going slower than I actually was. I did great on the hills, but did walk the last 10 yards of Colvin (the longest, steepest hill) because my HR was way high. Once I made it to the top of Colvin, I really felt like I was home free. After the Thornden Park hill (short and steep) which went great, I picked it up for the last two miles. What would you do differently?: Train more hills. Post race
Warm down: Stood around and ate with my friend, Kristin, and some other triathletes. What limited your ability to perform faster: Hmmm...the hills? I felt this was a great race for me, and I just need to train the hills a little more. Event comments: This is always a well-put on race. I love the course, and it's one of the biggest races I do (almost 2000 runners this year). The only reason I don't give this a five is because it's just not as fun as a triathlon. I feel like the camaraderie at a triathlon is just so much better. Everyone is cheering each other on and talking along the way. This race wasn't like that. Sure, there were some people making jokes or cheering each other on, but many times I would give a hoot at the top of a hill, or say something to absolute silence. I guess that is one of the reasons I am a triathlete and not a runner! Last updated: 2009-01-28 12:00 AM

Ate toast with peanut butter and honey and a banana around 7. Drank some water at honme and on the way to the race. Got there early, walked about .5 mile to the race start, stood in line for the bathrooms for about 20 min.
Walk from my car.
