Pre-race routine:

Race was delayed because of an unrelated accident on the bike oourse. Had a Oatmeal bar first....then on hearing the delay, had another cliff bar (spread out over abiout 2.25 hours).

Got set up, donned wetsuit, and was able to hang out in the water for about 8-10 minutes.
Swim
  • 33m 11s
  • 2112 yards
  • 01m 34s / 100 yards
Comments:

still learning the "drafting" part. Lake had GREAT visibility, so I was able to keep "bubbles" on the left of me, and "bubbles" on the right of me....and generally I thought it kept me on course. We caught the next wave (I assume)....that made it clog back up near the end. Overall, in the swim, I was #375 our of 1246.....VERY SURPRISING. I expected to swim in closer to 40 minutes. But I didnt feel too tired or exhausted.
Transition 1
  • 05m 46s
Comments:

Probably took too much time, but being my first no-kidding Tri....I wanted to make sure I was ready.
What would you do differently?:

Speed up, more time assuring my self pre-race that yes, indeed, the bike was ready.
Bike
  • 3h 17m 8s
  • 56 miles
  • 17.04 mile/hr
Comments:

Good pace on bike...18.4 by the bike computer (flat knocked me down to 17.0. Other than the flat, very happy.
What would you do differently?:

more solid food. I think this contributed to a bad run (stomach cramps)
Transition 2
  • 06m 8s
Comments:

probably moved too slow...but again, wanted to be sure I was ready.
What would you do differently?:

hustle more
Run
  • 2h 39m 39s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 12m 11s  min/mile
Comments:

I think the lack of solids on the bike made stomach start to cramp into the run. I was fighting my stomach, and maybe some hydration....not knowing whether I had too much in my stomach or not enough. I felt really good off the bike, so I believe the problem of dehydration came from not drinking enough during the run. But, I was hurting. Ended up walking a lot of the run. Almost an hour slower than my open half-marathon time. :-(
Post race
Warm down:

good....got heart rate and legs back under control pretty quick.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

stomach cramping on the run. Lack of solid foods?

Event comments:

VERY WELL EXECUTED RACE. The families that lined up on the race course were GREAT SUPPORTERS.....they were all out there to hose us off! Very nice touch by the town.
