Pre-race routine:

Finally slept to my alarm, got up made my coffee, did my duty, tried to eat my egg on wheat toast, so hard when you have cotton mouth. Very nervous this morning kept gaging like dry heaves, not sure if I was scared of the distance of the swim, little longer than I am used to, my mind playing games, did some deep breathing which helped a lot.
Event warmup:

This is the first annual for this tri which happens to be right down the street from my house! Got on my bike to head to the race and had my back pack on my back but I felt something was missing... My helmet! turn around get my helmet and ride down the hill to transition. Jumping jacks, talking, swinging my arms talking... I am not very good at warming up, isn't that what the swim is for?
Swim
  • 12m 1s
  • 750 meters
  • 01m 36s / 100 meters
Comments:

I was pretty nervous about this distance being the longest swim I ever done in a tri, It seemed like it took forever, swimming out to the first buoy which was in the surf, actually had waves breaking decided to do a bunch of breast stroke (duck dive)around the buoy which got me ahead of the little pack that I was in, verified by video! Then was the sun directly shining behind the next buoy, dang I wore my clear goggles, it had been cloudy and then it turned sunny at the last minute. Managed to sight by following the swimmers ahead, passed some of the boys! Headed in very tired!
What would you do differently?:

Grab the right goggles. Not stress about the swim, I have a swimming background I need to stress more about the run, well better not to stress at all, what a waste of my energy!
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

I think this went well, first time not doing socks, much better, one less thing to think about, don't think I could do for a longer run, I do get a little blister.

Time is included in the swim/bike.
What would you do differently?:

Run a little faster after the swim.
Bike
  • 47m 14s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 15.79 mile/hr
Comments:

This is a pretty ride but when your racing you don't really take that in unfortunately. All I have to say I love the bike, especially when I am trying to pass a truck and accomplish it! I think I could have gone a little harder but I new I had a tough run ahead.
What would you do differently?:

Train more on hills!
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Again no socks, have to pay attention of were I place my barefoot after I take off my bike shoes, got some dirt on my foot and had to wipe it off, I have towel down and need to keep my feet there.

Time is included in bike/run.
What would you do differently?:

See above.
Run
  • 32m 10s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 10m 20s  min/mile
Comments:

This is my worse run to date, kind of a bummer. I need to do more hills! My quads, mostly the left felt like they may have wanted to cramp, so I was playing safe, the bottom line train on more hills!
What would you do differently?:

Train on more hills.
Post race
Warm down:

Walk around, found my family and ate and drank.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of hill training. Anxiety!!!!!!!!

Event comments:

Wow, these guys did a great job for their first annual. Small little details that they already said would be fixed for next years! Now I know what I need to do, to train for next years, hills, and more hills!

Oh I actually got 3rd in my age group not 2nd because the overall female winner was in my age group, they don't give out two awards. Getting top three in your age group in bonus but I think I would really much rather prefer a personal best or close to than a place.

Another cool part to this race is that I knew most of the competitors, which makes it a lot of fun.
