Swim
  • 14m 22s
  • 880 yards
  • 01m 38s / 100 yards
Comments:

There was alot of room at the start so was in the 2nd row. I was a little surprised by the bumping but it cleared up just in time to make the turn. Final 400 was uneventful and I tried to push it the last 200. Breathing was OK as well as sighting. The swim was scrapped in the last 2 tris I entered (Make a Wish & Cape Henlopen) so it was nice get one in.
What would you do differently?:

Just focus on form.
Transition 1
  • 02m 27s
Comments:

I made sure I was out of the top half of the wetsuit by the time I got to the bike. Taking the rest of it off went quick. Got the shoes, helmet and glasses on fairly quick. Gu and water and I was out. Not a bad T1.
What would you do differently?:

Move faster.
Bike
  • 43m 19s
  • 15.2 miles
  • 21.05 mile/hr
Comments:

I bought a proper tri bike this winter and this was only the 3rd time I rode it. There are 1 or 2 tweaks I need to do but what a difference. I'll never be a really fast biker but I was very happy with my time. I passed several people and was only passed by 3 or 4. I need to slide the seat further up b/c I had to slide back a few times. Very happy with the ride. Love the bike.
What would you do differently?:

Con't my bike adjustments and get used to the new bike.
Transition 2
  • 01m 5s
Comments:

Happy with the T2. Changed up, hit a Gu and was off.
What would you do differently?:

Hit the Gu at the water stop at the start of the run. If I did that, I would have been under 1:00.
Run
  • 20m 2s
  • 3 miles
  • 06m 41s  min/mile
Comments:

Went out pretty strong and started to pick people off. Hit the half at 3:20 and the mile at 6:40 and thought I would pay for it later. I was able to keep that pace the whole way and just missed going under 20. Passed alot of people with only one guy who passed me. Very happy with the time since most of my training has been for 10 milers and half-marathons.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Post race
Warm down:

Packed up. Talked to the 2 other guys that came from Rehoboth and split.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Maybe not having the bike set up better.

Event comments:

Good early season race. Good race for 1st timers.
