Swim
Comments: I felt good in the swim. Never pushed it just tried to go straight and smooth and not add any yardage. Stepped out of the water 18th in the men and 20th over all. I have never done that well in the swim before so I'm very happy with that. What would you do differently?: Push the pace a little harder. Transition 1
Comments: I really did not go very fast here. I don't know why I just felt like it took forever and I was in no rush. What would you do differently?: Try to hustle more. Not sure why I didn't this time. Bike
Comments: The website is not giving me the info so I'm going off my watch and what I seen posted before I left. If they get the info up I'll edit this. What would you do differently?: I need to lost weight. That's all there is too it. Last year I was 15 pounds lighter and my legs were stronger from marathon training so I was pulling 18-20 mph average. I just have not been able to pull that. But my legs have been a lot better going into the run now. Transition 2
Comments: I almost face planted on the dismount. I don't know what was going thru my head. I rode to the dismount line and as I was coming in I un-clipped my right foot and swung it over the bike and in front of my left (that was still clipped in). At that moment I thought (oh crap, how the F**k is this going to work. As I stepped down with my right foot it instantly hit my left throwing me forward. I shoved the bike with my hip and that somehow un-clipped my left foot and I was able to catch myself. The bike slide out in front of me and it almost took out the sign. I never let it go so I tried to make it look as graceful as I could. Other then that all went well. What would you do differently?: Not much I could do better other then getting off the bike better. Run
Comments: I felt good. My legs were fine but I did walk twice in the first half mile to get my heart rate to come down. That dismount shook me up a bit. Once I calmed down it was smooth sailing. Never pushed my pace just ran. What would you do differently?: I would like to run faster. Again, need to lose weight. Post race
Warm down: They had great food at the end. Huge turkey subs, chips, fruit and candy along with water and Hammer HEED. What limited your ability to perform faster: My size and lack of running. Have been focusing on the swim and bike the last few months and that really showed in the swim. Event comments: I was worried, this being not only a 3D race but also the first one for this event. But it went great. I had no issues and it seemed like no one did. I'm looking forward to kicking the oly next year. I was going to do it this year but talked myself out of it. Got up at 4:30, sat around trying to take care of any bathroom issues. Had some coffee, that got things moving. Had a piece of whole wheat toast with PB on it.
Left for the race at 6 am.
I did nothing, just stood around, walked all the routes in and out of transition to make sure I knew where I was going and when.
