Swim
Comments: Looking at my watch coming out of the water, I was super excited I didn't grasp the seconds, but it was 25 something. Thats the fastest open water I've ever done. I was concentrating on drafting and following the group instead of adding a bunch of meters by zigzagging all over the place like I normally like to do. It felt really relaxed. Maybe a little bit too much, but I am obviously getting way more comfortable in the water. What would you do differently?: Start closer to the front of the pack. Draft off someone faster. Transition 1
Comments: Took me awhile to get my wetsuit off. I just need to practice transitions. It went ok though. I think T1 was included in my bike split. So I have no idea how long it took me. Bike
Comments: Felt awesome. Definitely a confidence builder. In the end my transition times were included in the bike so I have taken it upon myself to delete 4" from the bike and put it in the transition. Whether its accurate or not. It makes me feel better when I look at my bike split. And I remember being closer to 1:11 coming over the last speed bumps, so who knows. What would you do differently?: Have two water bottles, possibly my aero set up. Transition 2
Comments: Getting off the bike and too my rack was great. Only problem was getting to the start of the run where an official started yelling at me b/c I forgot my number, Whoops! I had to run all the way back to my bike and grab my race belt. I doubt I will forget it again. A girl I had passed on the bike, passed me in transition as I was running back to get it. This is the accumulated estimate of my T times. What would you do differently?: Remember the race belt. Run
Comments: The run felt hard. At mile 3 my legs started twinging. Not full out cramps, but just enough to let me know they weren't happy with me. So my goal today was to PR on the run and just do what I could on the swim and bike saving me for te run. So the run PR didn't happen, but I'm ok with that. I had a great race. What would you do differently?: Hydrate better. Take some electrolyte replacement. I just need to keep working on my bricks. Post race
Warm down: Got in the lake to cool off my muscles and float around a bit. Then I walked around and ate some pasta. I stayed for the awards ceremony to see who the competition was. I didn't realize I would place, but not for too much longer 25-29 here I come. Event comments: The RR tracks could have used a sign warning how bumpy they were, but if you were looking at the road you could tell. The volunteers were great. No aid station ever ran out of water. People out here in CA have a lot more competitive attitude it seems like. I think I was getting too hard on myself last year and was forgetting I race because I love it. There is definitely more comraderie post race than during. Now I know I'm doing it for myself. I like the adrenaline. Last updated: 2005-07-17 12:00 AM

I didn't really get a good breakfast. Next time I'll work on eating more, I just didn't know how far away it was or if I'd get lost, but in the end I had plenty of time.
Trainer for 10" before I left the house to wake up and loosen up the legs. Short jog around the parking lot and a little bit of swimming in the lake.
