Swim
Comments: I finally picked the right spot for my wave start: outside front. I swam over only a few and didn't get swum over myself. I didn't bilateral breath regularly and as a result I pulled left. Many corrections and zigzags. What would you do differently?: I need to improve sighting skills and increase my bilateral breathing to straighten out my swim. Too little training month previously - obviously lost some speed. Transition 1
Comments: my best T1 yet by 30sec. put on glasses, helmet. skipped gloves this time. drank. put on shoes, no need to rinse feet this time, unracked smoothly, ate GU while jogging with bike, static step over frame mount, a little smoother than usual. What would you do differently?: eat GU, put on glasses, drink on bike; learn leg over running start. someday learn to put on shoes while riding bike. keep skipping gloves. Bike
Comments: my fastest ride yet. race stats say 16.3mph. I was passed far fewer times than usual and passed a few more than usual. It helped me to pick targets to catch. What would you do differently?: still a weak point for me. continue training. focus on hill climbing and on upping cadence. Transition 2
Comments: I'm scared to reach my feet and deshoe while riding. jog with bike, wearing shoes. rack. helmet off. stopped to drink in T2 What would you do differently?: skip drink. someday learn to get out of shoes on the bike. Run
Comments: right knee ached, much more than in recent training runs. tried walking/jogging on uphills to see if that helped. No. diagnosed with runner's knee/early arthritis damage the following Tues. What would you do differently?: HTFU running is my weakest point. need to focus on this after I figure out the knee issue Post race
Warm down: walked a small bit. hugged kids and husband. ate PB&J What limited your ability to perform faster: lack of training consistency previous 5 weeks. I suck at running. Event comments: I really liked the course despite the evil hill that starts out the bike and the run. It's a good challenge. I was given the wrong race number and chip but HFP still managed to straighten out my results within 20 minutes. They run a great race. Last updated: 2009-04-04 12:00 AM
