Bike
Comments: Felt great for first 25 miles. It got a lot tougher on the last half. I've got to learn how to eat on the bike. My body-weight did not change much (-2 pounds) for the duration, so I think my lack of fuel hurt me rather than hydration. What would you do differently?: Eat a LOT more on the bike. I ended up eating 1/2 a Clif bar for 3 hours, with zero other calories. Not a great nutrition day, but at least I learned what it feels like. Learn how to attack hills like Kristin and Phil. I could keep up ok in the flats, but after 25 miles, I got smoked on the hills. Post race
Warm down: None, other than getting home to shower and go to local brew-pub for lunch...screw the no-alcohol policy for today...2 beers never tasted better. :) What limited your ability to perform faster: Nutrition Event comments: This will become an annual event for me. Raisin Bran, 1/4 of a new flavor of muscle milk (Strawberry or A$$berry, as I now call it), and a Red Bull.
None, other than riding to start point from local train station. Met Kristin and Phil, and we became pace-buddies for the day.
