Comments: Felt good in the water could have gone harder but had some traffic in front of me. Should have changed course and got through the crowd but just backed off instead. Water was great warm and crystal clear. Wetsuits were allowed since it was right at 78f but there was no need for one. What would you do differently?: Go harder and get through the crowd Transition 1
Comments: Spent way too much time getting on shirt which already had my number on it. Number was halfway ripped off by the time I was ready to get going. Took some time to put it back on. What would you do differently?: Use a race belt next time. Bike
Comments: Was feeling good on the bike until I started having problems changing gears. Definitely need to upgrade. Gears kept skipping back and forth on their own. Bridges were tough but manageable. Not much wind. What would you do differently?: Better equipment Transition 2
Comments: Didn't get off as fast as I wanted too but still pleased. What would you do differently?: Get out of shoes faster Run
Comments: Was feeling good on the run with a nice easy pace. Once I got on to the sand portion of the run I definitely slowed and got heated up. Needed to cool down prior to hitting the sand. Overall the run was good except for the tourists walking on the run course not caring if they walked right in front of your path! What would you do differently?: Cool down better and push harder. Post race
Warm down: Was getting pretty hot by the end of the race. Poured some water over my head and got something to eat. What limited your ability to perform faster: Worried about keeping a nice pace instead of pushing hard. Too much time in the transitions. Event comments: Great race!!!Took some time to make it home. As the guys were picking up the cones that had seperated the lanes for the bike portion a county bus hit them and sent 5 guys to the hospital they had the bridge closed down for a while.... Got up at 3:45 couldn't sleep. Left the house at 4:45 picked up my friend and his wife who were both competing. Got into the transition around 5:50 and set up.
Finished off a banana and went down to the beach for the pre-race meeting. After meeting made the slow walk five blocks to 10th street where the swim starts. Did very little stretching just kind of mentally preped for the whole race while waiting for the swim start.
