Swim
Comments: Was a good swim. Wanted to be stay under 10 minutes so was happy with that.We had 12 swimmers/lane, 1 started out every 5 seconds. We were all seeded pretty well, as I got passed by one girl, and near about 450m I caught a few of the slower ones in my lane. What would you do differently?: Slow down by stroke to relax. I get caught up in the excitement, and come out to hard. Transition 1
Comments: T1 was included in bike time. But went ok.Baby power in bike shoes worked well(THX Tracy!). Transition was very close to spectators, so was nice to hear everyone hooting and hollering! What would you do differently?: Invest in tri shirt to wear during the swim. The bike shirt was a little tough to get over the wet body. Bike
Comments: T1 and T2 included in the bike time. I friggin' killed the bike!!! I figure I was out and back in 37 minutes. That is fast, but 1st time on my bike in a race. I was only passed once on the bike, but i ended up passing him with about 1 or 2km left. What would you do differently?: Well, you'll see what I would do differently when you keep reading. :) Transition 2
Comments: Included in bike time. Went quite smooth. Saw my family, high-fived them and out to the run. What would you do differently?: Not too much. Was quick today. Run
Comments: AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! The 1st k was a steep downhill which was quite nice until I realized that it was also going to be the last km. My legs were fried after that bike. I went way to hard on the bike, and I was toast by the time the last killer hill hit. Was still able to kick it in for the sprint in. What would you do differently?: See "RUN COMMENTS" Post race
Warm down: Met the family, had some food with the kids and hung out. Was nice to have everyone there. Aunt&Uncle, Mon & Dad, and of course Wife and kids. Sat down with the girls on the University steps and chilled with them. What limited your ability to perform faster: Swim was great, bike was awesome, run sucked. I have learned that I need to remember that bike is not the last aspect of a Tri. I still need to run, and that cost me top 3 in my AG. Running is my weakest disipline and it showed today. Was frustrating, knowing I was top ten after the bike overall, then giving so much of it back. When the 3 AG guys came past me on the last 2 kms was frustrating. There were 4 guys ahead of me in my AG, 3 of them finished within 2 minutes. Normally I can run better than that, but wasn't meant to be. I've learned!! Still cracking 1:25:00 was good for my 2nd Tri. I am still happy with my overall time and placement. Event comments: Everything went off great. Start time was bang on to the second. Only problem I have is the hill. Whether you were SSprint/Sprint/Oly you were finishing with that hill. My Garmin said it was about 1km and wayyy to steep. Would like to see them move the run around somehow. Just a killer hill to end the race. If this would have been my 1st Tri I would have been completely discouraged at that finish. Weather was awesome, and they ran a great Tri. Last updated: 2009-04-06 12:00 AM

Woke up..tired!! 2 year was up for 2 hrs during the night. Popped a bagel with PB & honey and drove into the race. Was nice to be back in Lethbridge, recognized a few faces.
Swam for a few minutes in the pool to loosen up. Found out that the yellow cap I had meant I was first out on my lane.
