Overall Rank = 108/124
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 18/18
Pre-race routine:

Still figuring out how much and what to eat pre-race. Still not eating enough, but felt like I would be sick if I ate more. Just too many nerves. Arrived; racked bike; stretched a bit; and waited.
Swim
  • 16m 4s
  • 820 yards
  • 01m 58s / 100 yards
Comments:

Still learning to swim. First OWS. Did about 80% brest stroke and 20% freestyle. Breast stroke helped with sighting but is a bit slower. Had trouble with breath; just too anxious. Only 2nd tri, so hopefully the anxious breathing will improve with experience.
What would you do differently?:

Next year I hope to be able to do almost 100% freestyle.
Transition 1
  • 01m 52s
Comments:

Legs weren't there as I exited the water. Need some more practice.
What would you do differently?:

At next tri, I am going to walk through the transition better so that I have it in my head as I come out of the water.
Bike
  • 54m 16s
  • 15.5 miles
  • 17.14 mile/hr
Comments:

Did it on a mountain bike. Passed a few people also on mountain bikes. Passed two people on road bikes. Was surprised at mile 12 to find that I had 3+ miles to go. Had forgotten that it was 25K, not 20K.
What would you do differently?:

I certainly need more time in the saddle, and next season I'll have a road bike.
Transition 2
  • 00m 48s
Comments:

Didn't feel too slow but could've been faster.
What would you do differently?:

Just need more transition practice and better visualization pre-race.
Run
  • 29m 12s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 09m 25s  min/mile
Comments:

Legs weren't there. Had 26-year-old in my sights entire course. Cramped with about 3/4 mile to go and had no shot at catching him. Given how I felt during the run, I was suprised I did under 9:30 miles.
What would you do differently?:

More bricks, more practice, more stretching pre-race, more water while on bike.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked a lot to get the cramp out. Talked to my wife. Found a shower. Ate some food.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My fitness level.

Event comments:

My wife and I really enjoyed the venue and found it to be well-organized.
