Pre-race routine:

Woke up and drove downtown with Jim. We went to 7-ll and got some cheap coffee. Loaded the buses and then hung out with Bridgett, Allison, Greg and Jim in the staging area... It was chilly.
Event warmup:

Ran from the staging area to the start (about a half of a mile).

Comments:

I ran well for the first 15. I knew that when it was easier to run uphill than to run in the flats of the hills I was in trouble. The wheels completely fell off at 21. My quads were killing me.

I think my splits tell the story.

What would you do differently?:

Well 1st: Don't get Bronchitis and if you do, heal up before the race. I missed 11 straight days of training in early March and was never healthy.

2nd: Speed work matters. All of my sick and slow miles did not prepare my legs for the pounding that my pace and the course would dish out.

3rd: I probably should have started out easier given my lack of preparation for this race. Not sure this would have made a difference though.
Post race
Warm down:

Changed into dry clothes. Hit the first cheesy bar that I could find... Fire and Ice! HAHA.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

As I said, being sick, lack of speed work, poor race plan.

Event comments:

The Boston Marathon is awesome... the people of Boston are more awesome!

One complaint. The tech shirt they gave me is once again 2 sizes too big. I PAY FOR THIS SHIRT IT SHOULD FIT. This always seems to happen. I should get a refund for the cost of this bike rag.

Me and Deriba Merga were on the same flight:
