Swim
Comments: We started this race treading water in the Ohio River. From the river banks it did not appear that there was much of a current however when we all got in the water it was difficult to stay behind the starting line. At this point I knew this would be a fast swim. Little did I know it would be this fast. This was my best olympic distance swim by about 12 minutes. Transition 1
Comments: No real problems here. Not lightening fast but ok. What would you do differently?: Not put on socks. Bike
Comments: I loved the bike course. It was a two loop course around downtown Cincinnati and out Columbia Parkway which runs along the Ohio river. The bike course was completly closed to traffic which was great. It had some very difficult climbs, particulary the climb up an onramp to get on Columbia Pkwy. It was long and steep. All that being said, I felt strong the whole way. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 2
Comments: No problems here. What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: Felt pretty good for the first 4 miles. I was keeping an 8 minute pace which is pretty good for me. The last 2 miles I started to slow. Overall had an 8:40 pace which was okay considering how hard I pushed the bike. What would you do differently?: Not much. Maybe do some speed work to improve cardio. I've been doing long, slower runs this summer. Post race
Warm down: Had to pee so found the bathroom. What limited your ability to perform faster: 2nd in my age group so I felt pretty good about my overall performance. Event comments: I rated this race as average only becuase of the smallish field. You cann't beat the location! Most races I do are in uninspiring rural locations. With the race taking place in downtown Cincinnati there were plenty of sites to enjoy along the way. It is also a very spectator friendly course. Last updated: 2009-04-06 12:00 AM

Woke up around 4:30 and had my pre-race breakfast. Got to the race site around 6:30 and set up my transition area. Then sat around and and waited for the pre-race anouncements.
The swim start was about 1000 meters upstream from the transitions so the walk was my warm up.
