Total Time = 1h 46m 10s
Overall Rank = 194/225
Age Group = Novice
Age Group Rank = 137/158
Pre-race routine:

don't really have one.
Event warmup:

Wasn't too much time to 'warm up' per se. By the time I parked car, walked for blocks, got race packet, got marked, got chip, hit the head, and set up transition area, there wasn't a lot of time left. I got in the water, swam around 10 strokes and then did some mild stretching.
Swim
  • 19m 4s
  • 820 yards
  • 02m 19s / 100 yards
Comments:

was pretty happy with how I seeded myself this time. Compared to last time, there was barely any bumping and grinding. Practically had the water to myself on the back stretch. Even passed a few people from the previous wave. Picked it up a little toward the end.
What would you do differently?:

I need to speed up - PERIOD. I think I train too easily.
Transition 1
  • 03m 30s
Comments:

it was a LONG way from the water to the transition area.
What would you do differently?:

somehow, be prepared to run faster. Fool w/ the Garmin later in to the ride.
Bike
  • 47m 6s
  • 13.3 miles
  • 16.94 mile/hr
Comments:

passed a lot of people on the bike. I'd rate it a challenging, but I'm not a "cyclist" either.
What would you do differently?:

simple, need to put in some more miles and be ready ready to run.
Transition 2
  • 02m 19s
Comments:

may have taken the last little bit on the bike a little too hard. It was a little tough to cool off after coming to a complete stop. Admittedly, it was a little tough to think about running right then.
What would you do differently?:

it was downhill coming in to the transition area. Probably should've coasted and enjoyed the ride.
Run
  • 34m 14s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 11m 01s  min/mile
Comments:

got pretty much what I expected. Hadn't run since June, so legs burned terribly. Was WOEFULLY undertrained for the run after nursing the calf muscle for so long.
What would you do differently?:

gonna need lots of road miles going forward.
Post race
Warm down:

try to remain vertical.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

woefully undertrained for the run. Need to push faster on the swim, but n ot so much that it hurts later. More bike miles will help too.

Event comments:

Well organized, was a great time.
