Swim
Comments: This was my first open water swim, so I need to work on navigation and dealing with getting kicked and punched while trying to swim. Overall it was fun, just tried to relax and concentrate on staying calm...time suffered. What would you do differently?: More open water swims should help confidence. Transition 1
Comments: T1 was good, 97th fastest overall What would you do differently?: nothing Bike
Comments: Always strong on the bike, no exception this time. Felt good, was frustrated with number of times I had to break to dodge a hole or go over a bumpy surface. What would you do differently?: Nothing, maybe take in more fluids. Transition 2
Comments: Some moron in front of me decides to stop and get off of his bike about 15 feet before the dismount area. I had to lock up my breaks and jump off my bike to keep from hitting him. What would you do differently?: Nothing, can't control other people! Run
Comments: Felt good for the first 2 miles, then I began to hit a wall. I typically run at an 8:00/mile pace, but it just wasn't there. I pushed it as hard as I could, but had nothing left. Very poor run! What would you do differently?: Keep track of my pace better. I only saw mile markers randomly, so I had no idea what my pace was. I'm not sure if I just missed them or if they weren't all there. Post race
Warm down: Vitamin water and banana. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not sure, maybe the heat. I felt good off the bike, just had nothing left on the run. Event comments: My only problem was with the bike course. Too rough...wish they would pave these roads! Last updated: 2009-04-07 12:00 AM

Bagel, Powerbar and Gatorade 3 hrs before race. Gel about 30 min. prior to start.
The 1.5K walk to the swim start was a good warmup. Did some light stretching too.
