Pre-race routine:

Dosed 2 full days of Hammer's Race Day Boost (stuff works!) Woke at 4:40, got dressed, drank 12oz of gatorade. Stopped at Wawa for large coffee and Snickers Marathon energy bar. Got to subway around 6am, subway was pretty empty for the (local) ride up to Olney. Hung out at the Central High track, met Steve and Eve there. Waited around with them til the start. Wore throw away sweats (top & bottom) and trash bag over to keep dry.
Event warmup:

Walked around a little bit. Stretched a lot. Drank some of their free water. Front right shin muscle was very sore. Didn't bother me in race at all. Took my creatine(6 drops)/hammer gel concoction and drank some more water 15 minutes before start. Used my Wawa cup to Pee in under my black trash bag invention again outside the Yellow corral. Shouldn't have left it on the front porch where I knew a lady was watching me like a hawk. When I entered the corral, all I could hear is "Green hat! You in the Green hat! Green hat!! Green hat!!" The lady came out yelling at me for leaving my pee cup there. Good thing she was color blind, cuz I was wearing a red hat!

Comments:

Goal was 1:04:59. Got 1:04:57! (new PR :-) Had to push really hard for it. Actually, my long-time running goal has always been to beat Cecily Tynan. She always kicks my ass in every race we've been in together. I passed her at mile 6, and she was within 20 seconds behind me for rest of the race. At mile 7 she caught back up to me for a little bit. The last 4 miles, all I heard was "Go Cecily!" from everyone in the crowd along the route. Made me keep going strong cuz I didn't want her to pass me! Goal was under 6:30's, so first few miles felt real easy in the 6:20's so I was happy with building a little lead on my goal pace. Luckily I did because I needed it later in the race when I was running slower than 6:30.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe train more than 20 miles a week.
Post race
Warm down:

walked/jogged 1 mile back to mile car. Sticked calves, and drove home.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

sore legs, feet late in race, and heart rate going in the 180s late in the race. Guess I need to train more miles at a fast pace.

Event comments:

Loved the corrals!!!!!!!!!!
First time in a big Philly race where other racers weren't in my way in front of me :-)
