Swim
Comments: Yeah, met my primary goal, did not freak out, took it easy and had a very satisfying swim, I got out of the water feeling good and ready to get on the bike What would you do differently?: train more in the water, I just didn't have enough pool time in over the winter. Transition 1
Comments: everything went as well as I expected, took my time and had a little trouble getting second sock and shoe on, overall couldn't have asked for more. What would you do differently?: Not much just move fater overall and breath deeper. Bike
Comments: very good ride for me, the hills were a little more than I was expecting, but did very well for the first 15km. the last hill took a bit out of me and I definitely lost some pace here. No special highlights or bike problems everything was as it should be I just need to be faster and lose weight. However it felt good that I was passing a lot of people, well passed a lot more than were passing me. What would you do differently?: More outdoor bike time so I can train on hills. Loose weight. Transition 2
Comments: In and out quite quick, no problems once I was off the bike, racked really easily, helmet off, shoes and hat on and go. Grabbed some water on my way out. What would you do differently?: nothing just run faster. Run
Comments: UGH, ok here is where things fell apart, I had injured my hip two weeks ago and had not run at all for two weeks, so my endurance was shot and I just was not ready to run. I got out of the shoot and realized I was in trouble so I did a 1min run / 1 min walk routine and just kept going until I was done, it was sad to watch all those people I passed on the bike now get their revenge and pass me back but oh well. What would you do differently?: train more, run more, just work on consistency. Someday I will put a full triathlon together and it will be great. Post race
Warm down: just walked around and stretched out a bunch, but nothing special. What limited your ability to perform faster: Recent injuries, weigh too much. Event comments: A really good day and my first goal of getting over my ows concerns was realized, a very good place to be for my next tri in August. Last updated: 2009-04-07 12:00 AM

Did not sleep very well, I guess I was a little excited. I woke up at 5:30 got ready to go and left the house at 6:15, stopped on the way and picked up a bagle with PB and arrived at the race site at 7:45, they were just putting up race numbers so I found my number and since I was one of the first people there got a great spot at the end of the rack and set up transition, went to the bathroom and put on my wetsuit (found 2 small tears, yikes need to fix those) and got in to the water.
This was my second tri and last time my swim was a problem as it was my first ows in a wetsuit and it kind of freaked me out. My main goal for this tri was to just get out of the water in a good frame of mind and body. I took the time to get used to the water and the wetsuit did not feel as tight on my chest, so so far everything was feeling pretty good.
