Event warmup:

Forgot all about how to do one of these! I had my GU labelled at what time to take, but forgot it in my transition bag. So I took it later than I wanted. Was out of practice since this was my first event of the year.
Swim
  • 00m
  • 328 yards
  • / 100 yards
Comments:

Trouble with timing system, so I got screwed out of knowing how well I did here, and on T1!
Swimming is not my best of the three, but i don't think I did too bad. I lucked out, in that some people that were supposed to be near me didn't show up for the race. So my swim didn't have any real holdups with having people pass or having to pass.
What would you do differently?:

Practice? Sounds like a good idea.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

The swim exit changed for this year. It required a longer run out of the pool to the swim exit timing mat, then a longer run over to the transition area. Was a bit concerned about the parking lot not being swept prior to the race, because there were lots of sand and small stones. But, didn't seem to be an issue. Socks were a bit difficult to don. really wish I had a time to compare with last year!
Bike
  • 37m 47s
  • 11.5 miles
  • 18.26 mile/hr
Comments:

Cadence on computer wasn't working. Since I hadn't been training much for this race I felt like I should hold back a bit. Didn't push myself as hard as i did last year. I was worried I would tire myself out for the run.
Transition 2
  • 01m 2s
Comments:

Got held up by someone slower heading into the transition area. new for this year were some infatables for the bike out and bike in area. This made it more like 1 person in at a time!
What would you do differently?:

Before dismounting bike, forgot to take a drink. So wehn I was in transition I took the time to grab a drink, which cost some time.
Run
  • 25m 40s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 15s  min/mile
Comments:

Didn't feel as bad as I thought it would. I have done no running at all since my last tri in 2008! I was surprised I was only 30 seconds slower than last year. But also a bit disappointed that I didn't push harder. I should have paced myself a bit faster.
Post race
Warm down:

Stretched a bit then took a nice shower! WAC has a great facility and awesome hospitality!
Had some fluids and a banana while I waited for a buddy to finish.

Actually took advantage of a free massage, which felt good on the legs.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Only one thing...myself!

Event comments:

This event is one of my favorites. It was the first triathlon I ever did (last year). And it will continue to be one that is on my race list.
WAC has to be one of the best in the series! Awesome after race spread! I don't know why this race isn't more popular. This one should sell out every year.
Thanks for another great time!
