Bike
Comments: It was a bit chilly for my standards. We loaded the car and Rachele drove us down to within blocks of the start. Thank you very much! We rode around to try and find our starting group. We ended up in front of the start line and had to work our way back towards the middle. We passed the canon guy who threatened to shoot us if we didn't move, no problem there. Canon fires and we wait about 10 min before we start walking to the actually start. And off we go like a herd of turtles into the sunset. It was a great ride. No big events happen to us directly. I did drop my nutrition water bottle 15 min into the ride. Damn! I actually thought about going back to get it. I turned around and saw 1000's of bikes. I guess I am gonna have to just let that one go. Saw many bottle littering the route during the day. Saw and handful of accidents, One caused the road to get totally jammed up and we had to walk for like 10 mins. up a slight hill. If you can call that a hill. We were trucking along at a pretty good pace. We jumped on with a group that were motoring around 20 and would then drop to 17. Very strange until I hear one of them say "break" They were ridding intervals. We could get around them cause they would just pick us back up during the next interval. We stopped at the first rest stop and they were gone. We were able to jump on to some fast groups and motor along a around 20-22 mph. That was great. Collyer was doing a lot of the work in the first half and then it was my turn to pull in the second. I actually pulled to hard once and separated my self from the group on a slight rise. That was not the plan, but I can't say it didn't feel good to know I was that strong today. The groups seemed to thin out as we were headed into the wind. So we found ourselves alone searching for our next group to jump onto. The rest stops were great each had there own different themes. Most stops people would walk up to you and give you cool towels or offer to fill your water bottles. We had fruit, cookies, pickles, hot dogs, brats, one even had a shower, and everyone was very helpful. One guy even offered to hold our bikes as we went through the rest stop. Collyer went over to the first aid tent just to have a seat. It was funny cause like 3 nurses stepped up and were asking if he needed any help. No help needed just wanted to sit a sec. :-) Our favorite rest stop was the 98th mile unofficial beer stop. Went end got a Nat. Light and a few photos and we were ready to finish this sucker. Rachele was waiting at the finish line to cheer us in. We got a finishers pin, a coke and decided to take off and get a burger. What would you do differently?: I would hold onto my water bottle. Other than that I felt pretty good about the whole ride. Post race
Warm down: Warm down...what is that? What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing really. I felt good I think mentally I am just getting used to being this fit. Event comments: I will be back. There can't be an easier 100 anywhere, when the weather was as nice as it was this weekend. Last updated: 2009-04-09 12:00 AM

Ha! like there is a routine. Rachele and I loaded up the car with dogs in tow, and hit the road by 1:30pm bound for Wichita Falls. Collyer was meeting us at Rachele's dads house, from there we went down to the MPAC (which no one seems to know what that stands for) for registration and packet pick-up. The line for Pre-Registration was longer that Late-Registration. We walked right up and registered picked up the shirt and walked around the expo. We went outside and watched a bit of the crit races. Headed back to the house where I made a nice pasta dinner. We gathered up all our stuff and off to bed.
Warm up was riding the bikes down to the start and then walking to find our place in the mass of 14,200 people.
