Swim
Comments: Even though it seemed like a pain to start in waves of every 4 people - I probably started faster than if there would've been waves - - which was nice because it was gonna be a hot one! What would you do differently?: Why is that I'm always ranked highest (or lowest) on the swim?!?! Transition 1
Comments: Nothing great, nothing bad about this transition. Bike
Comments: I had my cyclometer on this one and was trying to keep an average speed a bit higher than my last tri (which was 13.0 mph) - I did! But I was a lot more tired after this bike than after the last one. I still got passed like it was my job...but the lighter bike made a difference. I felt that I passed a few more people than I did in the last race. I ended up improving my average rate by 1.2 mpg - which is good Also - it was really nice having my little cheering section at the end of the bike leg... What would you do differently?: Work out legs with weights!! Transition 2
Comments: Pretty good transition - in and out. Run
Comments: This was a hot run! And I was afraid of this portion the most. The first mile wasn't bad, but mile 2 was just hot - in the sun and not flat - and felt like it took forever!! Boy was I glad to get back into the shade and it was really nice to see my dad and Chris (his wife) cheering me on at the end!! I wished I wouldn't have walked so much, but I'm not sure that I really could've pushed myself too much harder!! :-( What would you do differently?: Train! Train! Train!!!! (And I don't mean a locomotive...) Post race
Warm down: Grabbed water and found granola bar and found Dad and Chris. What limited your ability to perform faster: The heat, not training enough for the run and not doing enough leg work for the bike (& run) Event comments: This was a well run race! Which was suprising for how big it was! I realized -again- that I really don't like racing! But if I didn't race, I would have a hard time training...and I do like training...for the most part! I might've given the tri bug to my 2 cousins who came to watch for a bit!! Now the next big decision..what am I doing next?? Last updated: 2009-04-09 12:00 AM

Got up waaayyy to early! I think I didn't want to oversleep and was a bit nervous about this one! Had 2 bowls of cereal and some coffee. Then about an hour before I started had some sharkies as well as a bottle of water. Got set up in transition and walked the swim in and bike in/out.
Just stretched and waited for my turn to start the swim. Car thermometer said 80 deg F when I left my place at 5 am...bearing in mind there was no sun out yet!
