Swim
Comments: Considering I had not done a lot of swimming prior to this race, this is a decent time. I was pretty calm and comfortable throughout. Had a few other guys around me that I kept running into but it was not really a problem. What would you do differently?: Train harder. Transition 1
Comments: Took it nice and easy. I walked into transition just to relax after running out of the water and up the beach. I took my time changing and getting into my riding gear. Nasty hill out of transition so it was hard to get going. What would you do differently?: Go faster Bike
Comments: This was an AWFUL ride. Right out of transition I felt sick to my stomach and there was a decent climb a mile in. I got over the hill but felt really sick, which kept me from getting up to speed. I was really considering dropping out but kept at it. I was riding really slow and my results show that. Also, feeling nausious kept me from eating and drinking so I was not at all ready for the run. After the second lap I was feeling a bit better so I decided to just plug away and finish. Really disappointing. What would you do differently?: Go faster!!! Transition 2
Comments: Again, slow and steady here. What would you do differently?: Go faster Run
Comments: I did not have any expectations here, especially after a lousy ride. My goal was to try and get a comfortable pace and grind through the miles. I felt decent at first but it cought up with me. I had to walk several times and just could not run up the hills. I also felt tightness in my chest, thinking it was a minor effect of the smog (what little there was), but I remember having a similar problem last time. Slow time but I expected it. What would you do differently?: Where should I start? Post race
Warm down: Easy walk and drank some water. What limited your ability to perform faster: I think it was a multitude of things: 1- I don't think I was prepared as I should have been. My training has sucked for the last month and I think this performance showed that. 2- Felt sick to my stomach for most of the ride and some of the run. 3- I do not think I ate the right things leading into the race. I know I should have had more carbs and less protein. 4- See #1 Event comments: It is not that the course was too hard, but it was challenging. Also, mile markers on the run would have been nice. Better luck next time =( Last updated: 2009-04-10 12:00 AM
